One week left! CCR have been training like Rocky and are ready to meet Paris and Göteborg.

And we have a surprise- you know the demo we do on track before the bout starts? This wont be done by CCR players this time- we have asked some good friends to help us with it instead. Some clues: they are from Malmö…but not part of CCR. Can you guess?

Looking back at 2011: CCR exhibition at Final

In 2011 Crime City Rollers participated in a number of events. Malmö Sommarscen, Malmöfestivalen and as curators of an exhibition at Final.

Final had the following to say about the event: ”Lördagen den 27 augusti 2011 bjöd vi in vänner, kunder, kreatörer och familj till våra lokaler på Skomakaregatan 2 för ett estetiskt höstmingel. De sex rummen fyllde vi med våra favoritaktörer i Malmö hösten 2011. De fick i uppgift att göra en utställning var åt oss. Marknadschefer gled runt bredvid konstnärer. Rollerderbybrudar bröt arm bland konstverk och 5-åringar. Stämningen var minst sagt levande. Vi tackar alla medverkande samt besökare och gör detta till en årlig tradition på Final.”

Crime City Rollers nominated for award

On Friday the nominees for Nöjesguidens 2011 awards were announced, and Crime City Rollers are nominated in the category ”Nöjesförbättrare” (more or less ”Improvers of entertainment scene”). You can find the full list of nominees (including us!) here, and meet us at the swanky party the 16th of february at Moriskan, where the winner will be announced.

But lets get to the important stuff here: As all of you know, a Roller Derby bout is not a bout unless it ends with a hejdundrandes after party with human pyramids and plankan on the dance floor. Therefore, we invite you, whether you’ve cheered for us at the bout or not, win or loss, to dance away with us in the evening.

WHERE?
The party takes place at Retro on Skolgatan in Malmo.

On the dance floor:
To the honor of our most long-distance guests ”Serge et Whitney” will play music that is characterized by the French 60s and moaning between 22-00.30
Between 00:30 to 03:00, Stolta Slampan will get the dance floor cooking to the beats of hip hop / riot / punk / RnB / hits / pop / house / Electro / dupstep.

Announcing our second bout: London and Luleå

The 17th of March CCR will play a double header at Baltiska Hallen, Malmö against London Rollergirls Brawl Saints (CCR A-team), and Luleås Slaughters Daughters (CCR B-team).

The London bout will be our first mock sanctioned bout, and an important step for CCR to become a full member of WFTDA.

CCR have from the start worked hard to build networks between leagues in Europe, with focus on exchange of knowledge and sports philosophy. In 2012 CCR will learn from the elite- Englands London rollergirls! Stefanie Mainey and Liv or Die from London rollergirls will coach a serious bootcamp in Malmö the 24-26 februari!

Guess who will meet us in the first bout of the year?

The holiday break is officially over- and CCR kickstart this season with announcing our first bout of 2012: a double header against Paris Rollergirls (CCR A team) and Gothenburgs West Coast Bombshells (CCR B team) the 11th of February in Baltiska Hallen, Malmö. Tickets are on sale here (yes, now!), and the event is also on Facebook.

CCR will take out an A team and B team during the following week.
